Dish Nbc Agreement
After a tense negotiation period, DISH Network and NBCUniversal have reached a new agreement that will allow DISH customers to continue watching NBC channels.
The agreement, which was announced on August 29th, ended a brief blackout of NBC channels on DISH Network that started on August 26th. During that period, DISH customers were unable to access popular NBC channels like CNBC, MSNBC, and USA Network.
The new agreement includes a multi-year deal that covers all of NBCUniversal`s channels and services, including the flagship NBC broadcast network. It also enables DISH to carry NBCUniversal`s regional sports networks and Telemundo, a popular Spanish-language network.
The two companies had been in negotiations for several months, with DISH accusing NBCUniversal of demanding higher fees for its channels. In the end, the two sides were able to reach a compromise that satisfied both parties.
In a statement released after the agreement was reached, Warren Schlichting, DISH`s executive vice president of programming, said that the company was “pleased to have reached an agreement with NBCUniversal that restores their networks and stations to DISH customers.”
He added that the deal “reaffirms DISH`s commitment to providing our customers with the programming they want at a price they can afford.”
NBCUniversal also released a statement, saying that it was “pleased to have reached a fair agreement with DISH Network that reflects the value of our top-rated networks and stations.”
The agreement comes at a time when traditional TV providers like DISH are facing increasing competition from streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. In order to stay competitive, cable and satellite companies must continue to offer their customers access to popular channels and services.
For DISH customers, the new agreement means that they can continue to watch their favorite NBC shows and sports events without interruption.
